Who is the swiftest runner in the state? Runners can compete for that title on January 21 and again on February 18! Frosty’s Frozen 5 and 10 has been awarded the designation as Colorado’s State Championship 5 Mile race by the Road Runners Club of America. Then, the Snowman Stampede 10 Mile race will crown the RRCA 10 Mile State Champions. Runners from throughout the state can compete to see who the fastest 5 and 10 mile runners are overall and in their respective age groups. The races will take place at Hudson Gardens in Littleton.
Founded in 1958, the Road Runners Club of America is the oldest and largest national association of running clubs, running events, and runners dedicated to promoting running as a competitive sport and as healthy exercise. About Frosty’s Frozen 5 and the Snowman Stampede
Frosty’s Frozen 5 and the Snowman Stampede are part of the Winter Distance Series, a three-race series that is currently celebrating its sixth year. In addition to enjoying a flat and fast 5 mile and 10 mile race that travels the paved Platte River Trail, runners and walkers will receive a shirt, chip timing, and a party-like atmosphere at the finish with yummy food and drink, including muffins, bagels, and hot chocolate. The three races in the series include Rudolph’s Revenge 5K and 10K on December 17, 2011, the Frosty’s Frozen Five and Ten Milers on January 21, 2012, and the Snowman Stampede 5M and 10M on February 18, 2012. Runners Roost will help the winners of each race celebrate with a new pair of New Balance shoes and they are also giving $20, $15, and $10 gift certificates to first, second, and third place age group winners in every race. The age groups are as follows: 19 and under, and then five year age groups up to 70+.
